The City of Los Angeles and the Office of Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa present nine diverse youth programs that strive to provide employment opportunities to youth and young adults from ages 14-24.

HIRE LA Creating Jobs for LA Youth
Leading the nation in job creation for youth, Hire LA is placing over 16,000 young people in jobs beginning this May and continuing through July 2010. Hire LA's Youth Employment Program works to provide young adults ages 14-24 with employment opportunities ranging from summer jobs to full time employment. Since its inception in 2006, Hire LA has placed over 28,000 young Angelenos in jobs. For more information, please visit the website, or call (213) 744-7206.

Vernon-Central Workforce Development Network
If you are a youth between the ages of 17 - 25, have been on probation or parole, have dropped out of school, are currently unemployed or underemployed, live in the Vernon-Central community, have a social security number and a CA identification card or driver’s license, here’s a job training program for you! Receive workforce development training in the following areas: computer technology, conservation and green jobs, and clean energy/construction. City Year, Washington D.C. (Americorps)
Graduating seniors who are not sure what they want to do after high school may consider applying for a paid community service position with City Year, Washington, DC., a group of 17-24 year olds committed to full-time service for ten months in the Washington, DC community. Benefits include a living stipend, health care coverage, free metro pass, and $4,725 educational scholarship.

WIA Youth Summer Jobs for Youth 14-24
The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA), signed into law on August 7, 1998 by President Clinton, reformed federal employment, training, adult education, and vocational rehabilitation programs by creating an integrated "one-stop" system of workforce investment and education services for adults, dislocated workers, and youth.

Youth Entrepreneurial Program
The El Camino College Small Business Development Center is offering a FREE 14-week program to help young adults (ages 14-27) learn the elements of entrepreneurship and how to start a part-time business.The program includes all materials along with snacks at each session.
