Join UFC and our partners to celebrate the academic achievements of Los Angeles
County foster youth. Students planning to go to college in the Fall of 2010,
with a 2.8 GPA or higher are invited to participate in Celebration 2010. In total,
more than $400,000 in scholarships will be awarded at the ceremony. For more

Colleges That Change
Lives
Colleges That Change Lives, Inc. (CTCL) is a non-profit organization
dedicated to the advancement and support of a student-centered
college search process. Since 1998, the Colleges That Change
Lives have been traveling together to meet directly with students
and families. The next Los Angeles program will take place
August 3, 2010.

Within Reach
This college preparatory event for foster youth is open to
all foster youth in L.A. County. College Within Reach offers
workshops about the college admissions and financial aid process
as well as a college and resource fair where students can meet
college reps and learn about available resources. The entire
day is tailored to youth in care with the goal of giving students
the necessary tools and information to begin college planning
with every chance for success.

UCLA Weekend:
Collaboration, Organization, Dedication, and Expectation to
College
This FREE 3 day summer program is designed to provide 9th grade
students with the academic support and enrichment needed to
assist them in their quest for college. Students will get to
live in a UCLA residence hall while practicing writing techniques
for high school, learning requirements for college, taking
a campus tour, and developing leadership skills on an exciting
ropes course.
Applicants must:
Be
in the 8th grade, entering high school (9th grade) in fall 2010
Be
a Los Angeles County foster youth with an open DCFS case
(KinGAP
youth are eligible too)
Be
able to participate in all 3 days of the program

National Bar Association
Crump Law Camp
The National Bar Association is seeking applicants for the
Crump Law Camp which was established for students entering
the 9th through 11th grades and between the ages of 14 and
17 to introduce them to the judicial system. The goal of the
NBA camp is to encourage young people at an early age to become
lawyers and seek legal careers in the future. By 2050 more
than half of the people in this country will be of color. More
than 90% of the nation's lawyers are white, as are more than
80% of the students enrolled in law school. Yet more than 30%
of the United States is comprised of people of color. The NBA
is seeking applicants to attend this camp from every ethnic
group and its selection process is non-discriminatory. Camp
begins July 11, 2010.

Youth Entrepreneurial
Program
The El Camino College Small Business Development Center is
offering a program to help young adults (ages 14-27) learn
the elements of entrepreneurship and how to start a part-time
